Today was our second day in Mexico and the weather was sunny again, but a little bit cooler than yesterday. Morgan and I had such a great time today. We got on the bus early this morning to tour the town of Tlalpujahua (tloowel-poo-HOW-wah). Morgan and his friends, Squeaky and Hopper greeted the bus driver, Charlito. Morgan flew onto the steering wheel and tried to drive the bus.
While walking around the town, we passed a parade of preschool children. They were singing songs just like we do in the classroom. Some of the adults wore colorful masks while the townspeople followed the children on their horses.
We spent a lot of time walking around the market. The market is where the families go to shop for their fruits, vegetables, clothes, and items for the house. While shopping around the market, we heard a beautiful band playing music. Morgan and his friends got excited so we moved closer to the stage. We ran into 2 boys who were also playing the guitar. We greeted them and took a picture. Of course, Morgan wanted to play the guitar.
Here are a few pictures from the market:

They also sell items for your house such as cups, plates and pots, just like in our kitchen area in the classroom.

Some of the children's abuelitas were making beautiful table cloths. This is called crewel sewing. This is when you sew a picture onto a piece of fabric using a special needle.
On our ride back to the hotel, we stopped on the side of the rode to see the many cacti plants. As we were walking, we noticed volcanic rocks. The rocks were from a volcano a long time ago.
Tomorrow is going to be another very exciting day. We are going to visit the Monarch Sanctuaries. I wonder if I will find any of our Monarch butterflies?

Hi Miss Liz,
What is Morgan doing with you in Mexico? I know you are eating tortillas. I hope you have a fun day in Mexico? Thank you for taking pictures and putting them on the computer for us to see. I hope you see flowers for Morgan. I hope you love the butterflies that you see. I love how you go to Mexico and you dress like that. Miss Liz it is fun seeing you dressed with the shirt we drew pictures on. Miss Liz it is lovely when you dress like that and you go to Mexico like that. Goodbye Miss Liz, I hope you have fun in Mexico.
Love,
Mia
Hi Mia
Thank you for posting on my blog with your family. Morgan and I are having a great time in Mexico. You are right. I have been eating tortillas. Although the tortillas are delicious in Mexico, they are not the same as the great tortillas that you and your friends helped to make for the fiesta. We just came back from the Monarch sanctuary. It was amazing. I brought all the flowers that we created at our fiesta and shared them with my friends. Many butterflies landed on them. Also, many people have been telling me how much they love my tshirts. I told them that my children at the CDC created them for me and they told me to tell everyone that you are all such great artists. Thank you so much for helping to make a tshirt for me to wear here in Mexico. I miss everyone and I will be back soon. Morgan told me to tell you that he misses everyone and can’t wait to share her adventures when we get back to New Jersey.
Miss Liz
George wants to know if the lady is making blankets or tablecloths and how she made them. Why is she sitting on the ground? George also pointed to your picture, he sees you sitting with a group of people. Ryan and George noticed that you are wearing the shirt the children made for you.Yes, we think you are going to see lots of monarchs!
The abuelita in the picture is making table cloths. They are woven, just like we practiced weaving on our loom. In the picture, she is finishing the table cloth by stitching flowers to make a design. At the market, each person has a special place where they work and sell what they make. They can choose whether they want to sit on a folding chair or on the ground. The abuelita was more comfortable on the ground as she was working. She was able to spread out all her materials for everyone to watch as she made beautiful table cloths.
